Baseboard cleaning can take longer than anticipated. Make sure you are willing to take the time to target every baseboard in your home.

Baseboard cleaning should be done on a regular monthly routine to keep the woodwork in your home looking neat and clean.

Materials Needed:

    • Vacuum with a dust-brush tool attachment

TIP: Target one room at a time

Choose each week what room to target and add it to your vacuuming time. This will make it easier to complete without vigorously target the whole home multiple times a day.

Deep Baseboard Cleaning should be done every 6 months.

Materials Needed:

    • Vacuum with dust-brush tool attachment
    • microfiber cloths
    • castile soap or all-purpose cleaner
    • (If applicable) nylon pad

First step for deep cleaning of baseboards is to vacuum it all. With the assistance of the dust-brush attachment make sure to dust off all the targeted baseboards.

Once all baseboards have been dusted off proceed with grabbing a micro fiber cloth. Damp the micro fiber cloth with warm water and a bit of the castile soap or all-purpose cleaner. If you notice any scuff marks feel free to use lightly a nylon pad. The nylon pad is gentle enough to remove scuff marks and maintain the protective finish baseboards tend to have.

TIP: Target switch plates as well

We all know our skin leaves oil residue when touching surfaces. The areas with most oil residue are switch plates. Due to the oil residue, dust and grime are heavily attracted to switch plates.

Utilize a dampen microfiber cloth with castile soap. Wring the microfiber cloth well enough to avoid damaging any switch.

NEVER spray anything directly to a switch plate. The end result will always be damaging.

Doors also need routine maintenance.

Attack stains and dust from the top to the bottom of each door.

Wooden Doors

With the same materials used for baseboard cleaning you can clean the doors. Create a solution of water and few drops of castile soap. Carefully clean the door without scratching any paint. Lightly wipe off the solution with a soft cloth to avoid damaging any finish coat.

Sliding Glass Doors

To clean sliding glass doors you will need a glass cleaner. Spray the glass cleaner on a microfiber cloth. Swipe the cloth on the glass from top to bottom. Seasonally, it’s essential to clean the sliding tracks with all all-purpose cleaner and a toothbrush.

Take time out of your day to clean baseboards, switch plates, and doors. If time is a problem seek a professional cleaning service to assist you. Nonetheless, maintain your home clean by setting up routines. Add baseboard cleaning to your vacuum routine once a month and notice the difference!
